Melissa Sheffel, RDH, Orofacial Myofunctional Therapist
Born and raised in Northern Kentucky and a proud graduate of the University of Cincinnati, Melissa Sheffel is passionate about bringing the life-changing benefits of myofunctional therapy to her community. With over 25 years of experience in dentistry, Melissa saw firsthand that something was missing in traditional patient care—particularly when it came to the connection between oral function and overall health.
A personal airway diagnosis within her own family sparked a deeper exploration into the world of myofunctional therapy. What began as a journey to help those she loves turned into a professional calling—leading to advanced training, continued education, and ultimately, the founding of OMT of Kentucky.
Melissa’s mission is to help patients understand how the function of the mouth affects the entire body, and to offer personalized, evidence-based care that supports better breathing, sleep, development, and overall wellness. She is proud to be part of the growing integrative health movement and looks forward to collaborating with other healthcare professionals to improve the health and well-being of Kentuckians.
Outside the office, you’ll find Melissa enjoying life with her husband of 24 years, cooking for their three grown boys, exploring new restaurants around NKY, walking in the woods with her standard poodles, or horseback riding.
